The Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce welcomes all those interested in joining the Board of Directors, or volunteering on a committee. The Chamber is always interested in people who want to get involved, who are passionate about our community, and are interested in learning more about what the Chamber is all about.

The Chamber's Board of Directors consists of not less than 8 members and not more than 14 members, including the Past President. Ideally the Board is made up of a cross section of the business community, and stakeholders in the community.

Currently the Chamber meets 15 times per year for Board meetings. The months of May, September and November have two meetings. The Board meets at 7:45 am in the Heartland Boardroom of the William Glesby Centre and meetings last for approximately one hour.

Once per month, liaisons with the City of Portage la Prairie, Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie and the Portage la Prairie School Division are invited to share current news and economic developments regarding our community at the monthly meeting.

The Chamber is also active with three formal committees: Communications Welcome & Events. Each Board member is encouraged to participate on one committee. See our Initiatives page for more information on these Committees. The Chamber welcomes non-Board members to participate on these Committees. Neither Board motion, nor election term is required for participation on the Committees. As well, from time to time, ad-hoc Committees are formed to tackle special initiatives that the Chamber works on.

The Chamber recognizes the time and value of the commitment of our Board and Committee members. Included in our by-laws is a requirement to ensure that adequate director's liability insurance is maintained on an annual basis.
